AAAMC Speaks

The “AAAMC Speaks” documentary series centers the legacy of the Black music community and highlights a wealth of materials available within Indiana University's AAAMC. In each roughly 20-minute episode, AAAMC director Tyron Cooper interviews one pioneer, current industry professional or scholar whose work is connected to holdings at the archives. As “AAAMC Speaks” through this series, the collections come alive, and African American legacies are preserved.

Mike Burton: This Man is Everywhere with Everybody



 

Evelyn Simpson-Curenton Headshot Mike Burton is a saxophonist, IU Soul Revue alum and Jacobs School of Music Jazz Studies graduate (BA and MA) who has recorded and performed live with top artists representing multiple genres in the music industry, such as Jill Scott, Patti LaBelle, Russell Gunn, Mary J. Blige, PJ Morton, New Edition, Anita Baker, Fat Joe, Arrested Development, Kirk Franklin and the Mississippi Mass Choir. He has also toured as saxophonist with numerous Tyler Perry stage plays and has appeared on the Tonight Show, Good Morning America, The Steve Harvey Show, Ellen, and Jimmy Kimmel.
